What is meant by psychosis? 

Psychosis is a serious condition of mankind that separates a person from all his reality and people go out of their normal state and face a kind of mental illness. Psychosis refers to a type of psychological problem. Whenever the symptoms of mental problems are triggered in a person, the person goes outside his reality and they create an unreal world for themselves, as a result of which they lead a life that is comparatively abnormal. And this is called psychosis. 

There are many types of symptoms in psychosis patients, but its main symptom is hallucinations, i.e. perceiving something unreal or seeing or hearing something unreal. Many other types of symptoms are present in psychosis patients.

The main symptoms are – 

1. Hallucination: – Which basically means seeing or hearing something unreal or perceiving something that has no resemblance to reality. 

2. Delusion: – Delusion is one of the special symptoms of psychosis patients. Which basically creates a kind of confusion in patients. Due to which it is seen that patients believe in something that has nothing to do with reality or which has no resemblance to reality. 

3. Manifestation of strange use – Sometimes patients speak in a disorganized manner or use something that is not possible for a normal or ordinary person. Speaking in a disorganized manner that has no resemblance or explanation to reality. These are also called symptoms of psychosis. 

Many other types of symptoms are present in psychosis patients. 

What are the causes of psychosis? 

Psychosis is a type of mental problem that occurs due to various reasons.  However, there are some main reasons for this such as- 

1. Mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or psychotic disorder and their causes 

2. Severe depression is one of the reasons because excessive depression causes psychological problems. 

3. Various drugs also cause mental problems, which result in mental disorders because they directly affect the brain, due to which the brain is damaged in various ways and many functional problems also occur, resulting in psychological problems. 

4. Such diseases can also occur through various physical diseases, such as if there is a tumor in the brain, problems can arise, or psychological problems can arise due to stroke or any other brain-borne infection. 

5. The effect of a lot of mental stress can also affect a person psychologically, and then his mental condition can deteriorate.  And that deterioration is called psychosis or psychological problem. 

There are many other factors due to which psychological problems can occur in various ways.

What are the stages of psychosis? 

1. Initial stage: – The initial stage refers to the initial stages. The symptoms that are seen in the initial stage are basically very common symptoms. It is seen that the person feels lonely and the person prefers to be alone and withdraws himself from everyone such as friends or society or family. This is one of the symptoms of the initial stage. 

2. Middle stage: – At this stage, the patient usually experiences some symptoms like hallucinations and delusions. This is a time when the patient experiences some unrealistic activities and abnormal behavior. This is one of the main symptoms of psychosis. 

 3. Final stage: – In the final stage, some symptoms appear in psychosis patients when psychosis patients lose control over themselves and think completely. And in such a state, patients lose all kinds of control over themselves. As a result, their mental state deteriorates. 

4. Recovery stage: – In the recovery stage, their recovery process starts and at that time, various treatment methods are used for the patients, and efforts are made to diagnose their problems through all treatments and make them healthy. In many cases, they recover as a result of treatment, but sometimes treatment is required for a long time. 

Misconceptions that are created among people: – 

Many times, it is seen that many people have various misconceptions about psychosis patients. As a result, various harmful problems are created.

1. There is a misconception among people about psychosis patients, many people think that psychosis patients are very aggressive or aggressive, and they think that they are always violent. However, this is a misconception for everyone. 

2. Again, in many cases, it is also seen that many people think about psychosis patients that if they come into contact with them, they may be harmed by them, but thinking like this is nothing more than a misconception. 

3. In some cases, they are thought to be mentally unstable, which is usually one of the misconceptions. There are many differences of mental problems and mental imbalance, so this is not same.

Many times we mistake psychosis patients for being violent, but most patients are not violent, rather many psychosis patients themselves are afraid and anxious about their problems and they are very worried about their problems and their cure. Psychosis patients are very fragile, due to which they get angry at a little or get hurt at a little, so they should always be treated well and behaved well. If we keep these things in mind, psychosis patients also feel much healthier and feel safe.  As a result, their fear is also removed to some extent. Psychosis patients should be treated in a friendly manner so that they do not feel that they are mentally ill or mentally ill. Therefore, it is possible to help them the most by being close and trustworthy in terms of treatment with psychosis patients. Also, if it is seen that the condition of the psychosis patient is getting worse day by day or is going to deteriorate, then they should be referred to a good doctor such as a good psychologist or psychiatrist. 

When should a doctor be referred to? 

In many cases, the problems of psychosis patients recover on their own and they recover very quickly, but many times it is seen that instead of getting better, the patient’s condition worsens.  When psychosis patients become too mentally unstable and when they become a danger to themselves and others around them, it is no longer possible to recover on their own, and then they should immediately seek the help of a good doctor or psychologist, so that the doctor or psychologist can understand the patient’s condition and complete all his examination procedures and provide them with proper treatment. This reduces the patient’s risk and this is no fear of harming others.
