We usually understand self-care as taking care of ourselves. There are also parts to taking care of ourselves, such as physical care, which generally means taking care of the body. Mental care, which basically means taking care of the mind, and emotional care, which generally means the process of taking care of one’s emotions. That is, taking care of oneself is basically called self-care

Why do we need to do self-care? 

We should all take care of ourselves, give importance to ourselves, and take care of ourselves from all aspects of our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Taking care of ourselves is not a luxury, but taking care of ourselves is an expression of loving ourselves. Just as taking care of yourself ensures your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, you can also ensure peace of mind by taking care of yourself. In addition, it is possible to ensure longevity and health by taking care of yourself. Therefore, it is very important to take care of yourself without neglecting yourself. 

How many types of self-care can be done? 

 By self-care, we mean taking care of ourselves or taking care of ourselves. However, many of us do not know exactly in what ways it is possible to take care of ourselves. So, let me know about the different types of self-care or self-care- 

1. Physical self-care: – What we easily understand by physical self-care is taking care of our own body. No one knows better than us how to maintain the health of our own body, so taking care of our own body is part of our sense of responsibility towards ourselves. Some things can be kept in mind about physical care, such as – ensuring adequate sleep so that the body can remove fatigue and ensure adequate rest, eating the right amount of nutritious food so that the body can take the right amount of nutrients and stay free from disease. Drinking enough water helps to reduce dehydration and keep the body fresh. Eating healthy food and exercising regularly to keep the body fit.  

2. Mental self-care: – Mental self-care means taking care of the state of mind. Along with physical health, it is very important to maintain mental health because if you are not mentally healthy, the body does not feel healthy and well; you feel depressed and indifferent in everything. So of course, we should all take mental self-care along with physical self-care. For example, stress can be reduced by doing yoga, also by reading books, doing favorite things and going for walks; the mind is good; as a result, mental stress is reduced and health is maintained.

3. Emotional self-care: – Taking care of your emotions is also known as another way to keep yourself well. Emotions are expressed more or less in all of us, but we often do not give importance to emotions. But we should never do this. Because emotions must be given importance, it is our responsibility to take care of our own good and bad feelings. We suppress our feelings and emotions for fear of expressing them, but this is not right. A good way to express our emotions or feelings is to make a diary and write everything in it or share everything with a good friend or close person. This keeps the mind light and helps to keep the mind healthy.

So, of course, keeping all these things in mind, it is our responsibility to take care of ourselves and give importance to our good and bad feelings and take care of ourselves.

Some special ideas for self-care:- 

1. Phone free zone:- This means keeping yourself away from the phone or laptop. It is seen among us that we spend too much time with our phones or laptops, looking at digital screens all day long not only damages our eyes but also affects our brain, which results in physical as well as mental damage. Therefore, to maintain health, we should avoid all digital screens like phones, laptops or computer screens for at least 1–2 hours every day. Self-care means understanding both the good and bad about ourselves. Therefore, we should give up bad habits to take care of ourselves.

2. Unfollowing social media:- We are more or less all of us are very involved in social media. But many times, we can get depressed by seeing some things on social media, so we have to say no to everything from social platforms that can have a depressing effect on our lives. This is also one of the ways to take care of ourselves. 

 3. Being in nature: – Keeping yourself in nature also works to bring mental peace. Because just as nature refreshes the mind, the fresh air of nature keeps you free from physical diseases. Therefore, you should keep yourself in nature as much as possible, and this also maintains your health. 

4. Walking barefoot: – According to many researchers, walking barefoot on the ground helps to keep the body much fresher, and along with this, it also helps to keep the brain healthy and fresh. Therefore, walking barefoot on the ground occasionally is very beneficial.

5. Going for a walk: – Sometimes the monotony of daily life creates mental stress in us. And to overcome this monotony, everyone should give themselves time, take some time for themselves in all their busyness and go for a walk because this is a very beneficial way to improve their mind. Therefore, you should give yourself time for yourself occasionally. 

 6. Stay in the sun: – You should regularly expose yourself to the sun for 10–15 minutes every day. This allows the body to absorb enough vitamins from the sun. 

7. Drink enough water: – Drinking enough water every day keeps the body very hydrated, and keeping the body hydrated in the right amount makes it possible to stay free from many types of physical diseases. Everyone should drink enough water every day.

8. Breathe deeply: – By waking up every morning and breathing deeply, the heart can be kept healthy and good. 

9. – Regularly, even if it is less, moderate exercise should be done for 30 minutes or more; this maintains the health of the body, and along with this, physical fitness can also be maintained. 

10. Give yourself time: – We are very busy in our daily lives, and we forget to give ourselves time between work pressure and everything else. So we should give ourselves time every day, although it is for at least 30 minutes. Keeping your mind healthy by doing things you love or reading books or listening to music is one of the ways to take care of yourself. 

We should all love ourselves, put ourselves first and take care of ourselves, as well as our body and emotions. We must remember that the main happiness lies in keeping ourselves healthy and well, because if we do not take care of ourselves, if we neglect ourselves, we will not only harm others but also ourselves. Therefore, loving and taking care of ourselves is our biggest responsibility.
